Jarno Trulli is quite hopeful to retain his seat in Lotus for the upcoming 2011 season.
The Malaysia Racing Team has not given the final verdict regarding its driver’s’ line up however, Trulli is quite hopeful that the seat will safely be his. The Italian driver, although having not given many satisfactory performances
this season is confident he will stay with the team however rumors abound that other drivers are vying for his place.
Trulli’s teammate on the other hand, Heikki Kovalainen is almost certain to retain his place with the team for another season. Although the driver has not been able to get even a single point all through the season, the team seems
satisfied with his driving skills. Kovalainen has had six retirements this season whereas Trulli has not been able to complete eight of the races.
After having faced a lot of uncertainty for his place in Formula One next season, this is the first time that the driver has hinted at staying with the team for a second season. "I'll go to the factory in a few days to get ready
and prepare the 2011 season chassis, cockpit and seat," the young driver said while talking to the media earlier today.
The Lotus Racing team completed its debut season with the sport at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix earlier this month. This first season with Formula One has not been anything less than a trauma for the team that has faced several issues
ranging from financial to managerial issues. Moreover, as the 2010 season came to a close the car manufacturers of Malaysia, the Lotus Group brought up the issue of the teams name. There are now reports that the team might take part in the next season under
a new name. However, despite all these odds, the team has proved itself to be the best of the three rookie teams, HRT, Virgin and Lotus that joined in 2010.
While talking to the media earlier today, Trulli admitted that it had been a "tough season" for him but still he is motivated for his stay in Formula One. The career of the 36-year-old driver has been filled with similar ordeals
as he drifted from Renault to Toyota and is now uncertain for a seat next season.
"Some performances have been pretty bad compared to what I was used to, but nevertheless I have always tried to get the best out of myself and the car, I've still enjoyed a lot of good fights," Trulli concluded.
