Jarno Trulli hopes for an improved 2012 after a torrid 2011 F1 season – Formula 1 news
Jarno Trulli is hoping for a better 2012 after a forgetful 2011 season.
Trulli has been struggling since he has been with Lotus in 2010, marking his first season without scoring any points. He was not able to improve on his 2010 performance either and is now looking towards the 2012 season with hopes of making some sort of an
impact to show his true potential.
If things were not going as well as Trulli wanted them to go, being out-qualified by his teammate Heikki Kovalainen made matters worse for him. The 37-year old is going to be under tremendous pressure to retain his seat with Caterham beyond 2012.
All the while talks of his retirement are getting louder as well. Although Trulli said that he is not thinking of retiring just yet, he probably understands the magnitude of the impact 2012 is going to have over the chances of his career prolonging beyond
2012 and Caterham for that matter. As getting a race seat has become much harder with the onus of bigger sponsors on the agenda of midfield teams who are placing financial gain with a higher priority over skill and talent.
“Hopefully next year the sun shines some more after this season of suffering,” Trulli said. “There is a lot of hope and good will for the new project, but ultimately it's only about what you get on the track. The clock never lies.”
“After Toyota withdrew I thought about changing to a different category, but I believed then - and I still believe now - in the project [with Caterham],” he further added.
The Lotus team renamed Caterham has been looking to make all the changes required for the overall improvement of the team. They have been publicly working towards much better results for the 2012 season.
It would be interesting to see what 2012 brings for the fortunes of Caterham and Trulli but one thing is for certain that Trulli’s performance will have a significant impact over the fortunes of Caterham. A tweaked car for 2012 may help bring in the results
Caterham and Trulli are desperate to achieve.
