Jarno Trulli planning to move to NASCAR but not very soon
Jarno Trulli had not been able to perform well all through the year yet he announced that he is not at all thinking of retiring from race all together though he might quit Formula One if he will not be able to get any good scores in the races to come.
The thirty five year old driver is one of the oldest drivers still racing with Formula One. The other three are Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher and Pedro de la Rosa. Among these four old drivers Trulli stands with the lowest points in this season driving for the team Lotus. Now amongst the oldies, top ranked is the seven time Formula One Champion, Michael Schumacher who had been able to earn thirty eight points while Barrichello stands at eleventh place having earned thirty points in total. The season had been really bad for de la Rosa who has six points in total and worst for Trulli who is pointless with twelve races of the season already gone.
Well, Schumacher and de la Rosa both quit racing earlier and returned to the sport this season only, while Trulli has continuously been a regular Formula One driver since he joined in the year 1997, with Minardi being his debut team.
There had been a lot of gossip lately about Trulli retiring, however the Italian racer confirmed that he has no plans of leaving the sport although he might think of moving to NASCAR. The stories of his move to NASCAR were aired last year as well when he had a test there late in 2009, but still he insisted that he has not taken any decision as of now.
He further elaborated that he is looking at the matter very closely as he does not wish to spend a lot many seasons lapping at the back along with the newcomers rather he wants to take a decision which is best for him.
While talking to AutoBild, which is a leading automobile magazine of Germany he said, "Honestly, I don't know when."
He explained his statement, "If I'm suddenly no long fast than it makes no sense to remain in Formula One.”
He further accepted the fact that of course this year had been a difficult one for him, nevertheless he is looking forward for a far better 2011 season as the team promises.
He added that he does not intend to come to terms with being a backmarker, and he felt that Lotus has a long-term plan and the upcoming seasons are going to offer better opportunities to him.
He clarified that, even at the moment, when he was signing with the team he realized the fact that the first year would be difficult for him and now he knows that he has to be very patient with everything.
Well, there are other speculations about him as well, like some people think that he wants to end his career with Lotus and switch to some other team. For this he only replied, "It depends.”
He is still looking for the offers that will be made to him the in the forth coming season.
For another year he has already signed with Lotus and thinks that he will want to wait and see how things are going to unfold for the team in the upcoming season and then he will be in a better position to make the final decision.
He concluded saying, "Right now I'll be here again next year because it's going in the right direction. But I do not think too far into the future."
Currently the team stands at tenth place in the Constructors’ Championship without having bagged even a single point by any of its drivers.
