Jarno Trulli signs Lotus, Vitantonio Liuzzi still stays uncertain
While one Italian driver Jarno Trulli confirms that his place in the team is pretty safe, his country man, Vitantonio Liuzzi struggles hard to get a place on the 2011 grid.
Auto Racing and especially Formula One has always seen string Italian races but now the Italian team as well as the drivers are striving hard in the sport. Ferrari, the Italian team, despite of having done all it could possibly do, failed to achieve any
of the titles, drivers’ of the constructors’ of the 2010 season.
Looking back at the history of the sport, although one recalls listening to a lot of Italian on the track as well as in the paddocks, but the most amazing of all the seasons was 1989. The season saw no fewer than 12 Italians positioned on the gird, an amazing
sight for the Italian race lovers.
However, presently there are just two drivers of the country for the whole next season. Among the two, the veteran, Trulli has already confirmed his seat with Lotus Racing for another season while Liuzzi still hangs in anticipation.
The 2010 season has seen Liuzzi with Force India, the only Indian team in the sport owned by Dr. Vijay Mallya. So far, nothing is certain for the driver, as the team management clearly said that they are still in the process of making the final decision.
On the other hand, the team has already signed Adrian Sutil to stay with the Indian squad for yet another season. Other drivers that are being considered to take the second seat in the team are, Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg.
Willi Weber, Hulkenberg's manager has already revealed that talks are being carried with Force India and he hopes to hear the verdict very soon. On the other hand, Force India's reserve driver, Di Resta’s maiden victory at the German touring car series DTM,
has improved his chances for being signed with the team as a main driver.
While talking to the media earlier today Di Resta said, "I'm certainly hoping I can get a seat there next year because I'd love to continue a long relationship with them. My dream is to become Formula One world champion, and that's the next box in my book
I've got to tick off. I'll keep praying it happens."
The Scottish former driver, Allan McNish and Di Resta’s countryman, appreciated his performance saying, "Unfortunately, there is a lot of politics in motor sport and F1 is at the very height of that so it is not just about a driver's performance.”
