Jaromir Jagr excited to get Dallas Stars back into Playoffs -NHL Update
Jaromir Jagr is definitely one of those players that can help a National Hockey League (NHL) team achieve their goals and with a new contract worth $4.55 million for the next 2012-2013 regular season, things should just be getting a little hotter in Texas
than they already are.
Not able to re-sign with the Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars seemed to be the most in-need team according to superman, Jaromir Jagr, as he looked forward to helping the team he thought was struggling the most.
"I want to play for a team that feels I can help them and that's the most important thing," Jagr said during a conference call. "I think I can play on the first two lines. That was always the most important thing for me. I don't want to be in the NHL to
sit around. I want to be a big part of a new team."
After signing him on for the next year, Dallas Stars’ general manager, Joe Nieuwendyk, was excited and hopeful for a major change around in performance.
"Even at 40, he's still a difficult guy to contain. He's still as good as anyone in the League at using that big body down low. He keeps himself in tremendous shape. He knows how much he needs to play in order to be successful and how much is too much. I
think he's going to be a really good fit with our group," the GM said.
Jagr has two Stanley Cups under his belt during his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In his comeback season in 2011-2012, the veteran right winger put up 54 points (19 goals, 35 assists) in a total of 73 games played. He went on to the playoffs with
Philadelphia Flyers and had one goal and seven assists in 11 games played their before they were eliminated by New Jersey Devils.
The Czech Republic native also expressed interest in playing for the Montreal Canadiens prior to signing with Dallas Stars, just because it is a Canadian team and in Canada, everyone knows how much hockey is celebrated there, but unfortunately, things did
not work out.
