Jaromir Jagr might not be with Philadelphia Flyers against Florida Panthers -NHL Update
Philadelphia Flyers could be facing yet another setback to their injury riddled line-up as general manager, Paul Holmgren, announced on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, that superstar player, Jaromir Jagr, might not be part of their upcoming matchup against Florida
Panthers.
It was during their last matchup against Detroit Red Wings that Jaromir Jagr was forced to leave the game due to a collision with Valtteri Filppula. Jagr went out midway through the middle period and has not been since with Philadelphia since.
The 40-year-old, who made his comeback into the National Hockey League (NHL) this 2011-2012 regular season with Philadelphia Flyers after three seasons of playing abroad, has been a tremendous motivational factor for the team so far.
Philadelphia is number five in the Eastern Conference at the moment and not having him on the team in the long run could mean devastation along with Flyers facing a harder time. Since Jagr might return on Thursday against Florida, not seeing him for a longer
time is certainly out of the question.
This will not be the first time the veteran right winger is going out of the season, but will be the fourth incident. Jagr has played 56 games with Philadelphia this season and boasts a 44 point (17 goals, 27 assists) record along with a plus-six rating
and 18 minutes in penalty time.
Talking to reporters after the incident, Jagr confirmed that he had tried to avoid contact with the player but it was not something under his control. When asked whether he would participate in the Thursday morning skate with the Philadelphia team, Jagr
answered with it being something depending on his situation at that time.
Jakub Voracek is also another player that Philadelphia just might be playing without on Thursday. He was hit by Detroit’s defenseman, Niklas Kronwall, during the matchup as well.
"I don't want to say I feel too good, because every day is different. Hopefully, I can get back as soon as possible," Voracek said.
If both players are unable to show up for Flyers on Thursday, Philadelphia will definitely need to call up some replacements from their minor league affiliates in the American Hockey League (AHL).
