Greg - haha the only reason I would've booed Jags would be because of his beard, ahhhh........lol. But last season for Jagr wasn't up to expectations...maybe he is getting a little old, and the size of his mullet back in the day may have hurt his back in the long run! lmao

Ahh d**n you Rags fans =P

d**n you Rags period! You got Naslund, Zherdev, Kalinin, Redden....who else???!! lol...you might dislike the Pens even more because we got a couple Islanders haha.....but I'm happy with the Pens lineup, even if we don't end up getting one of the big wingers on the market........=)

  1. Should beleive everything you read

  2. The Pens need to concentrate on keeping what they have, not inking other players. They're going to have a hard enough time doing that! Their players are young, and in my opinion will only get better over the next 5 years. What a core of great college-age players we have in Pittsburgh. The fruits of sucking so hard for so long! Enjoy the ride.

  3. i am really going to miss jags. he was a great player and really helped the rangers a lot. he put them back on the map. after missing the playoffs for 7 years straight then he gauranteed that the rangers would make the playoffs and then led the team. he was awesome. he was a huge reason why they made the playoffs three years straight after that. i am really going to miss him. even though he didn't have a great year last season look at how well he did he had 71 points a lot of guys never get 71 points and that is jagr's bad year. i have a lot of respect for him and i wish that he would have signed with the rangers. i think that he really truely wanted to stay in new york and i truley believe that a lot of ranger fans wanted him to stay too, me being one of them. i think that slather and jagr and his agent should have met in person and stuff to try to make a compromise or something. i am really disapointed in not having jags next year. i have a lot of respect for him and what he did. everyone was counting him and the rangers out but he proved them all wrong. i will miss him a lot. i love what he said at the end about milbury that was halarious. i am glad he is going to russia and not playing in the nhl because i don't think i could look at him in a different nhl teams uniform.

jags me and all the ranger fans out there will miss you  a lot. thanks for all you did for the team.

  4. Hey, I'm a Penguins fan and I'm glad to see him go. His last few words while still in Pittsburgh was: "I'm dying here in Pittsburgh." s***w what he did for us. It only takes one time for someone to lose respect for him. He had a poor work ethic. He had a bad team morale. Personally, guys like that mean nothing when they go, it's just kind of a relief. And as for Shannahan and Selanne, no. We need to sign people that can stay for a while. Lock up Staal, Kennedy, and Talbot. Sign a few more 3rd and 4th liners and be done.

  5. Meh, I'm not surprised.  We knew they offered him around $12 million a year, tax free... that's a loooot of money to turn down.

Personally, as a Ranger fan, I'm not upset about this.  I thought he was an awful captain, and (this past season especially) seemed too lackadaisical about the role.  He didn't seem to give his all, and that trickled down to the rest of the team, and effort was a big problem for us this year.  He did contribute a lot over the few years he was here, but I think it was time to move on.

Personally, I can't see why people expected him to sign in pittsburgh.  I mean, he did contribute so much there, and gave the city so much... then once he was traded, the fans turned on him.  He gets booed every time he's in the building.  I understand he said some things about the city, but why would people expect him to go back to a place that hates him?  It was just a pipe dream turned into a rumor with no basis, in my opinion.

Though, he IS still a great player and will be for another year or two... I'm glad we won't have to play against him.  Especially 6x a year.

And no, the Pens should not go for Shanny and Selanne... work on keeping the players you have, and forget about aging rentals.

EDIT:  Yeah, but did the media have reason to believe that was a possibility?  Or did they just decide it would be a good idea and continually run stories on it?  They probably made him an offer, but a lot of teams did, and I don't think he seriously considered a return to pittsburgh.  Also, I've heard it before that most of the fans don't boo jagr, and don't like that other people do.  I agree with that... but also, Jagr has been booed at plenty of arenas around the league, because people love to boo the opposition's best player.

I understand the need for a winger to play with crosby or malkin, and I do think having Hossa definitely helped you guys last year.  I definitely don't see Shanahan being a guy like that though... he needs a limited role wherever he signs.  Selanne might help you guys, but for some reason I don't see him being the answer for you guys.

Of course, as a Ranger fan, I'm not-so-secretly hoping you guys don't get someone like that. :)

  6. The Penguins have lost a lot this off-season, but they do need to add some more offensive depth. Teams with only two superstars on offense never work out (see Selanne/Kariya, or Kovalchuk/Hossa) so they need to add some more depth. Both the wings you mentioned are a risk, but Selanne still has the ability to put the puck in the net, and I think him and Crosby would have some great chemistry.

  7. If Russia wants our aging stars, good for them.  We'll keep our guys in their prime.

  8. i just bought my number 68 Avangard Omsk  jersey to go along with the 3 different pens jerseys and 1 new york rangers jersey with the number 68

  9. Well it doesn't look good, but  there is currently no agreement between the NHL and Russia, or the IIHF for that matter, so he could still sign in the NHL with no consequences.  For all we know he could be doing this to see if it will make teams bump up how much they are offering him.  Just a thought.
