Jaroslav Kulhavy wins 2011 MTB World Cup Cross Country: Cycling News
Specialised Racing team’s Jaroslav Kulhavy won the 2011 MTB World Cup Cross Country in Dalby on Sunday, May 22. Jaroslav took a total of 1 hour, 40 minutes and 53 seconds to cover the distance of race.
After winning the stage, the 26-year old Kulhavy said, "This is a course that suits me, I knew before the start that this would be a good course for me, and it was my plan to attack right from the start of the race."
Previously, Kulhavy won European Championship-Cross Country and Czech Masters in 2010. He also won Czech Masters-Cross Country race in 2009.
The French cyclist, Julien Absalon of Orbea, was also in good form and grabbed the second place with 50 seconds behind Jaroslav. Marco Aurelio Fontana of the Cannondale Factory Racing team finished third with the difference of 1 minute and 39 seconds.
Maxime Marotte (BH - Suntour - Peisey Vallandry), Manuel Fumic (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Moritz Milatz (BMC Mountainbike Racing Team) were in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.
The Eleven cyclist including, Sven Nys, Andrea Tiberi and Inaki Lejarreta Errasti were disqualified the race due to some reasons.
The two cyclists worked hard in the race including, Jaroslav Kulhavy and Cannondale Factory Racing team’s Manuel Fumic.
The round one winner, Nino Schurter of the Scott-Swisspower team, also showed his good performance, but he grabbed ninth place with 1 minute and 58 seconds.
In the start of the race, Julien Absalon made good effort and managed to chased back to the group of other riders, but Kulhavy was went off.
In the second place, Absalon dropped the chase group and tried his best to chase the next two laps, but he closed the gap of 20 seconds of Kulhavy. In the final lap, Kulhavy and Absalon were working together to pull away in the field. But Kulhavy cross the
line ahead of the other cyclists.
After seeking second place, Absalon was upset and said, "Second is okay, I am happy with second. I had a bad start, so by the time I got to the front [of the chasers] Kulhavy was gone. It was a good race for me, and I am only 10 points behind, and next week
is Offenburg,"
After two rounds of racing Jaroslav Kulhavy was also took World Cup Standing with 410 points. Orbea team’s Julien Absalon was in the second spot with 400 points and Nino Schuter of Scott-Swisspower MTB-Racing grabbed third place with 350 points.
