The 30-year-old is eying a positive result on Thursday when FC Girondins de Bordeaux play host to high-flying AS Saint-Etienne side at Stade Chaban Delmas in the Ligue 1
Bordeaux have lost only twice this season and the fact that they are still unbeaten at home adds more significance to Thursday’s game against Les Verts.
Les Girondins’ captain, Jaroslav Plasil has urged his teammates to play with confidence against Saint-Etienne in order to get a positive result at home. While talking to ligue1.com, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 international stated that the results at the weekend
have helped Bordeaux and they need to take at least a point on Thursday, as it will take them to fourth position in the league standings.
"Results elsewhere at the weekend went in our favour so we needed to at least take a point,"
The player added that breaking into the top three is what FCGB want to achieve but admitted that they are finding it tough to do so because of a number of reasons. Plasil said that Bordeaux have struggled in last couple of matches and the need is to do well
this time around.
“We are still giving chase, but so far we have struggled to take the next step that would allow us to break into the top three."
Talking about Bordeaux’s goalless draw against Stade de Reims last week, the 30-year-old said that it was a tough game for FCGB and playing just after 72 hours of their Europa League game against Newcastle United, didn’t help their case.
"It was a complicated game for us. We were unable to impose our style and Reims performed well.”
Jaroslav Plasil added that it is hard to cope with such hectic schedule but feels that Bordeaux will be ready for Saint-Etienne, as a number of players were rested for the Europa League clash, and tiredness will not affect his side’s preparations.
“When we play two games so close together it becomes harder for us to perform consistently well, but a lot of us were rested against Newcastle so I don't think tiredness was an issue."
