Jarrod Sammut negates transfer rumours – Crusaders update
Crusaders have swiftly moved to nullify the hearsay linking Jarrod Sammut with a move away from the club.
Iestyn Harris, the coach for Crusaders clearly discharged any probability of Jarrod Sammut departing the club and joining Hull. Reports and rumours indicated that Sammut was looking forward to join Hull FC as his final destination. The Maltese international
player still has two years left with Crusaders according to his contract and is a vital part of the club.
Jarrod Sammut an Australian rugby league footballer plays for Crusaders in European Super League. He used to play for Penrith Panthers in National Rugby League. He has also been representing Malta in both rugby union and rugby league.
According to heritage rules, Jarrod was eligible to represent Malta in its international team. His only appearance in rugby union match was memorable, as he scored 11 points in that match. He did not play for union after that, due to his contractual commitments
with rugby league.
Harris looked annoyed by the rumours and stressed on his statement again.
He said, “Hull have made contact, but we have put that story to bed.”
Hull actually wanted a third half back and Jarrod was doubted to be the one, but all such doubts and rumours were negated by the coach. Jarrod himself wants to play for Crusaders and spend a long and healthy season with the club. Harris also forecasted few
major things for this season regarding Jarrod.
He said, “He has more to give to the game of rugby league than he has given so far.”
Rob Findlay, the chief executive for Crusaders has also insisted that their key playmaker will not be leaving the club and will remain in Welsh outfit for as long as required.
Findlay quickly released a statement, “I don’t know where these stories have come from but I can assure fans that we are not contemplating releasing one of the fans’ favorites.”
Rob Findlay personally knows the chief executive of Hull FC, James Rule and they talked about the matter over the phone and other occasions quite frequently.
He informed, “When we last spoke he joked I should not believe the press reports suggesting they had approached Jarrod.”
But on a serious note both the parties have cleared the misconceptions and made it clear that there was no offer made to Sammut. He added, “James and I will continue to speak, but it won't be about Jarrod or any of our players.”
