Jasmine Liu beats Angelica L. Ortiz to secure Women’s Singles title at LABC Summer Bash Tournament
Jasmine Liu, a talented shuttler from U.S.A, displayed a phenomenal performance and secured Women’s Singles title after beating her compatriot Angelica L. Ortiz in the title match at the 2012 LABC Summer Bash Tournament in U.S.A, on Sunday, June 24.
The in-form Jasmine, who has been showing her impressive craft all the way in the tournament, continued her striking progress in the final and overpowered Angelica in a hard-fought battle.
Jasmine started in a sluggish manner and lost the opening game. However, she found her flow and powered back into the fight and wrapped up the following both games to register a sensational victory over Angelica in three games with a good margin.
Angelica, for her part, played positive badminton in the first game and also won it with a tight score. But she lost her focus and also her control over the pace of rallies and lost the following sets to her impressive opponent.
In the first game, Jasmine played good badminton but she was a little slow in the court which helped her rival to remain in commanding position until the end of opening half.
After the mid-game break, Jasmine geared up her speed but failed to dictate the pace of rallies especially in the ending points and lost the set with a close score of 21-23.
In the second game, both ladies again kept the crowd intact by playing fast badminton and remained close until the break.
After the 60-second interval, Jasmine became quick at net and she also put variations into her shots. An aggressive and positive play helped her to take the second game with a close score of 21-19.
However, the case was entirely different in the deciding set when Jasmine controlled the driving seat from the opening rallies and took a superb lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Jasmine continued impressing the crowd with her elevated craft. She was focused in the concluding phase of deciding game and eventually won it in a stunning fashion by a tremendous 21-9 score on the board.
The in-form Jasmine ousted Angelica to bag Women’s Singles crown with a staggering margin of 21-23, 21-19 and 21-9.
