Jasmine Tosky clinches Women’s 100m butterfly gold medal – 2011 Speedo Junior National Championships
Jasmine Tosky earned the gold medal of Women’s 100m butterfly category on the third day of the 2011 Speedo Junior National Championships on Wednesday, August 10, in Palo Alto, California, USA.
Tosky of PASAPC claimed the gold medal of two-lap butterfly swim, by submitting remarkable effort of 59.51 seconds. With her title claiming effort, she was the only swimmer to post a time under 1 minute and 00.00 seconds, as all other swimmers posted a time
more than one minute.
She was 3.45 seconds away from improving the world record of Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden, who clocked a time of 56.06 seconds to earn the title of same event at the 2009 World Championships in Rome. She was also 2.87 seconds slower from lowering the US mark
of 56.64 seconds, set by Inge De Bruijn of Netherlands during 2000.
Olivia Barker of SANDCA then remained 1.13 seconds behind Tosky and occupied the silver medal, with a timing of 1 minute and 00.64 seconds. Haley Lips of YSSCSC was the third finest swimmer of the event, as she was just 0.14 seconds behind Barker and claimed
the bronze medal in a time of 1 minute and 00.78 seconds.
In the meantime, Courtney Weaver of FLY-MI surfaced on the finishing wall as fourth fastest swimmer, by posting a time of 1 minute and 00.85 seconds. Likewise, Kathryn Kinnear of IST-PN remained only 0.06 seconds behind her preceding swimmer and reported
in a fifth fastest time of 1 minute and 00.91 seconds.
Meaghan Raab of HAC-MA and Heather Lundstrom of PKWYOZ transpired as the sixth and seventh position holders of the event, as they produced timings of 1:00.95 and 1:01.08 minutes, respectively. At last, Janet Hu of CUBUPV settled as the eighth finisher of
the event, as she ended her swim and touched the wall in 1 minute and 01.11 seconds.
The arena went wild with the phenomenal swim of Tosky, while they also admired gruelling efforts of all participants. Furthermore, medal winners were awarded accolades after the completion of the session.
