Jasmine Tosky earns Women’s 200m butterfly gold: Day three - Santa Clara International Grand Prix
Jasmine Tosky of Palo Alto Stanford earned gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on day three of the 2012 Santa Clara International Grand Prix in California on Sunday, June 3.
Santa Clara is the last stop of the 2012 USA Swimming Grand Prix Series that offers an opportunity to world-class swimmers to race each other in their exclusive events and get better before the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The 18-year-old Tosky stayed comfortably ahead of her opponents and tapped the finishing end for gold medal. With her alluring efforts, she sprinted her way towards the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 09.66 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kimberly Vandenberg of New York Athletics, who remained 0.36 seconds slower and tapped the finishing end for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 10.02 seconds.
Third spot of the race was secured by Rita Medrano Munoz of Mexico, who suffered a deficit of 0.13 seconds from her foregoing finisher and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 10.15 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Elaine S Breeden of Unattached-PC, who remained nearly one body length behind and settled on the wall as fourth position holder with the timing of 2 minutes and 10.92 seconds.
Subsequently, Breeden was followed by Caitlin A Leverenz of California Aquatics, who was only 1.15 seconds behind and hit the finishing end for fifth position with the timing of 2 minutes and 12.07 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the event was obtained by Celina Li of Pleasanton Seahawks, who stayed only 0.09 seconds slower and touched the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.16 seconds.
Li was trailed by Andrea M Taylor of Una Stan-PC, who proved her eligibility for seventh position of the event by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 14.05 seconds.
Rachel N O’Brien of Unattached-PC snared eighth position of the 200m event with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.26 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders received medals after the session.
