Jasmine Tosky win Women’s 200m butterfly heats – US Open Swimming Championships
Jasmine Tosky of Palo Alto Stanford won the qualification rounds of Women’s 200m butterfly on initial day of the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships in Indiana University Natatorium, Indianapolis on Tuesday, August 7.
The 18-year-old Tosky stifled her opponents in a ruthless manner in the qualification round of the discipline as she showed her urgency towards the finishing end for first position.
With her epic pace and commendable start, Tosky gained a marginal lead over her challengers in the first lap. She continued her stupendous efforts throughout the event and made her way to the finishing blockade for fastest qualification spot with a timing
of 2 minutes and 10.23 seconds.
Her fastest qualification effort was chased by Kelsey Floyd of University of Tennessee, who remained 0.48 seconds slower from her and made her way to the finishing end as second best finisher with a timing of 2 minutes and 10.71 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Kimberly Vandenberg of New York Athletics, who remained almost half a second behind and finished her swim in a time of 2 minutes and 11.27 seconds for third position.
Similarly, Vandenberg was trailed by Anna Senko of Bluefish Swim Club, who stayed 1.22 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 12.49 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest qualifying position was secured by NOVA of Virginia’s Emma Nunn, who was only 0.06 second slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.55 seconds.
Nunn remained 0.33 seconds ahead of Merritt Krawczyk of Penn State University, who proved her eligibility for sixth best position by producing a time of 2 minutes and 12.88 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Alison Haulsee of Unattached-VA, who remained slightly behind Krawczyk and posted a time of 2 minutes and 13.03 seconds.
Last qualification spot of the discipline was secured by Courtney Otto of Star Swimming-NI, who ended eighth with a timing of 2 minutes and 13.10 seconds.
Furthermore, these qualifying swimmers will contest each other in the playoff of the event.
