  1. We loose a hall of famer but we get a great baseball player that will hussule on anything unlike someone else.

  2. It it a great trade for the Red Sox. You get rid of Manny who was a distraction and now Bay lightens the clubhouse up. Plus Manny had no years left of his contract after this year. Bay has 1. Manny is slightly declining whereas Bay is in his prime. Plus look at the stats.

    Bay: .286/.396/.928

    Manny: .299/.398/.926

And don't forget Bay was hitting in the third best pitchers park in the National League.

Plus the Red Sox didn't give up many good prospects. Hanson isn't very good and Moss is at best a 4th OF.

So yes, it is good for the Sox

  3. Bad. What they gave up makes them even older. (Aside from trading Manny, of course.)

  4. good because they got a good player and got manny out of there hair so it was a good deal for the sox

  5. It's a great trade for the Red Sox I like Bay more than Manny

  6. Good

  7. Ramirez reached the point where his actions were a distraction and detrimental to the team.  Jason Bay is more than a adequate replacement and is a great teammate and great in the clubhouse.  I believe the Red Sox did what they had to do and they should continue to have a good team and should be a contender for a playoff spot.

  8. The fact is that they had to get rid of Manny. I wish they only gave up one prospectbut to get the deal done they gave up two. I'm fine with it. Jason Bay showed good signs of dealing with pressure last night, and now he knows that the fans have his back fully. Looking at it on paper it looks terrible, but..addition by subtraction...they had to get Manny out of there. 1-0 without Manny so far.

  9. well its good and bad.   the red sox fans are gonna miss manny but jason bay is young and he can play........ BUT they shouldnt have traded Brandon Moss. he is my cousin   GO PIRATES

  10. Good.  Look at his first 2 games as a Red Sox!  It was time for a change for both the Red Sox as well as Manny.

  11. Lets see

    - Jason Bay is younger

    - Jason Bay hustles

    - Jason Bay has put up very similar numbers compared to Manny

    Im gonna go with good.

  12. Well he did score the winning run yesterday with a hit. I would say the trade has worked out for the Red Sox, so far.

  13. I think that going forward Bay will be a bigger contributor than Manny.  I appreciate what Manny did for us in his time, but he had become a big distraction of late.

I didn't like losing Moss and Hansen, though.

  14. he is not manny, they will never be the same, its bad

  15. bad, not because of bay really but because they had to give up manny ramirez as well as a top pitching prospect in craig hansen and a pretty solid young outfielder in brandon moss...they paid a hefty price to get a guy who is not going to replace manny's production in the lineup no matter what boston fans tell me...however, i can't blame them because manny's behavior was just not acceptable and he could not continue in that clubhouse any longer

  16. Good!  Manny was becoming a distraction.  "I'm going to Green Bay for Bret Favre, straight up" is one example. I believe it was Espn that had numbers, the average baserunner in MBL gets from homeplate to first in 4.3 seconds.  In Manny's last game he had one 5.3 and one 5.7.  That is jogging speed.  The veterans on the team were asked about their thoughts and they agreed it was too out of hand.  They were tired of answering questions about Manny. Did you see Manny NOT hustle to the ball hit in left field at Dodger Stadium last night?  Good luck LA.

  17. well lets see,

Red sox are 1-0 with Jason Bay

    currently it's working.

  18. Too early to say. We have to see 1) whether Manny stays with L.A. and 2) how Bay adjusts to playing in Fenway Park.

You Sox fans can give thumbs down all you want, but it's far too early to make any declaration that this was a good trade. The Sox gave up a surefire Hall of Famer for a pretty good ballplayer who has yet to prove himself in the American League.

  19. jason bay will give the sox a better defense but a less powerful offense. jason bay will also be quieter and not be in the news all the time

  20. I'll say good------he's certainly not going to hurt them, he certainly out hustles Manny!

  21. Jason Bay is a good player but manny is better sometimes i know they will regret that they ever traded manny

  22. Well i really do not think they will suffer without Manny. The Red Sox have a lot of good batters, Jason Bay not really being one of them. But honestly, i do not think the team nor the fans will miss him. Good batting average or not he was not worth it. Now he is the Dodger's headache.

  23. good trade they have him through next season also he has been an all star and rookie of the year i believe. Manny was tearing the team apart.

  24. I think it was bad. I think Manny would have really helped the Sox get to the playoffs. Their chances have decreased. Although if they are right and Ramirez wasn't going to hustle it might be good.
