  1. manny!!!!!

even though he was traded to the dodgers for some minor league players

  2. Manny, he is more consistent

  3. Though the stats overall are similar, you overlooked a key stat.

Batting average with runners in scoring position:

    Bay- .216

    Manny- .309

So on the surface the deal looks alright for Boston, and down the road good. However, Bay is nowhere near the threat Manny is at the plate. He is not as clutch and not as feared, and does not punish good pitching like Manny does.

He's never played in the pressure of a pennant race and even without pressure in pittsburgh, his RISP numbers are atrocious. Nobody knows how he'll respond. He's a solid player who's in his prime, but nobody can replace Manny's bat, and Manny was one of the most feared, clutch hitters in baseball who could hit any pitcher and made Ortiz basically in to what he is.

Without Manny, Ortiz will suffer as well. This trade has implications that well be felt all down the lineup.

  4. i really think bay, cuz he is consistently Good and manny ramirez is only some times good.

  5. Short and sweet here...Manny = Hall Of Fame Jason Bay = No Chance

  6. manny with regard to talent but he can be a team wrecking ******

he should be a nfl wr

  7. well lets look at like this...

Jason Bay is younger, has virtually the same stats and numbers as Manny...and he has his whole career to look forward to!

Manny is old, and quite frankly, the guy hasnt pulled his weight whatsoever in the last 2 years...he strikes out every d**n time he's at bat, and as a red sox fan...I am very dissapointed in his performance since 2006----yeah, he took us to the world series in 2004, but since...not very amazing.

Its sad to see one of my favorite sluggers go, but at the same time...he's been a real a*****e to the fans and legend that is BOSTON!  Manny Ramirez has become the brett favre of baseball....a selfish, stupid, overbloated nimrod who destroyed his legacy by being lazy and greedy.

Jason Bay, at least he will be HAPPY to play some ball, and he will actually do some good out there on the field...he wont lay down for 2 full seasons the way manny did....and with jason bay's BADASS numbers and the many years he has to come...I think he is a GEM for my red sox...

    lets see how he plays!

as for manny...he betrayed boston, bostonians like myself, and ruined his legacy..what a jerk.

  8. This season or career?  RBI's arent necessarily a reflection of how well someone can hit, as much as it is how well the people in front of them can hit, and what spot in the lineup they are batting.

    This season - Manny

    Career - Manny

    Just look at his numbers.

  9. Manny Ramirez is better in my own opinion because he has more power and also has a championship ring jason bay is good but manny has more experience and a better team

  10. Now that Bay is playing in Fenway, he'll put up better numbers. Look at Ortiz. He was a nobody in Minnesota, then he comes to Boston, and becomes Big Papi. So don't write off Bay or the season just yet.

You also get a player, who will play. He won't dog out grounders because he's pissed off at management. Or take a p**s inside the green monster. Manny is now Torre's problem.

  11. jason Bay is younger, more speed , and  plays better defense than Manny...however more pitchers feer Manny !

  12. Avg red sox fan

    Before trade - manny

    After Trade - bay

    Remember it's boston, its pathetic

  13. Manny is better, but he's not $14.25M better. Manny is past his prime, so Bay isn't too far behind him.

  14. this year its pretty much a wash but in the following years itll be Bay...the better career obviously goes to Manny

Take into consideration that PNC is one of the biggest pitcher's parks in the MLB

  15. No comparison. Manny's lifetime numbers are better. Manny has played 16 yrs to Bays 6 yrs.

There will be no Manny after Ortiz and Bay is not a replacement.

Yankee fan wishing him to stay in the NL.
