Jason Booth: Willie Casey is a talented and aggressive southpaw pugilist – Boxing news
Jason Booth, the former Commonwealth (British Empire) and BBBC British super bantamweight champion, in a recent media interaction praised his upcoming opponent Willie Casey, commenting that Willie is a strong and talented pugilist who uses his southpaw stance
aggressively.
Jason and Willie are scheduled to headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Phil Jeffries which will be televised live from Stadium of Light (Sunderland FC) in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom.
Jason and Willie recently participated in a pre-bout press conference and shared their thoughts about each other. Booth, 34, will most probably take this bout as a golden opportunity to make a comeback on the win track.
Also known as the ‘2 Smooth’, Jason has been in a total of 45 bouts, boasting 36 wins. The veteran Brit has pinned just 15 of his opponents by knockout and is therefore considered as a resilient pugilist who can absorb heavy punishment but does not possess
a significantly lethal jab.
The Nottingham proud is currently going through a bit tough phase of his career as he has collected four losses in his last five bouts. With a three-bout lose streak needed to be broken, Jason is inching towards retirement and therefore carries a burden
of collecting some decent wins before hanging his gloves once and for all.
His opponent, Casey, 30, will enter his 16th career bout with 13 wins and two losses. The Irish pounder has not fought many opponents in his somewhat developing career, the reason why he is considered as an underdog in front of the veteran Booth.
Despite understanding that Casey is seriously overshadowed by his experience, Booth still praises his talent and stated, “Willie Casey is a very aggressive, come forward southpaw. He’s strong and a good fighter. I rate him as high as the other good opponents
that I’ve boxed, but I’m confident I can overcome him.”
When asked as to how he feels about entering his career’s third bout at North West, Jason excitingly commented, “I’ve enjoyed fighting in the North East in the past. When I fought Hunter in Sunderland, the crowd were great and it was a good experience for
me. The North East fans like their boxing and they always turn out. I’m really looking forward to coming back.”
The duo will definitely put forth an exciting showdown for the Britain fans. The bout will have the vacant WBO intercontinental super bantamweight title on the line.
