Question:

Jason Campbell on his way out?

Honestly, am I the only one who looks at Jason Campbell and just asks myself "why do the Redskins hold this guy to such high regards"?

Really though, am I missing something here? I know he has won games at some point but every time I have seen him play he has looked terrible and they have lost. Tonight's season opener was just the epitome of what this guy is all about. He looked lost every time he dropped back with the ball and couldn't seem to grasp the fact that you are supposed to throw to the receivers that are beyond the 1st down mark on 3rd and 4th down. Now before you Skins fans go jumping all over me for bashing your team, I'm not trying to come down on your team in any way, shape, or form... I'm just simply pointing out the fact that the last 2 times they were in the playoffs was with Mark Brunell and Todd Collins under center.

  1. gee guys, who do you think i support out of the redskins QB's? :D

god knows id love to have Colt Brennan be the starter, but give Campbell some credit.  amongst coaching changes, a less than stellar O-Line, and a star RB in Portis (portis is definitely top ten, if not top 5 in the league), its hard for a QB to succeed in that situation.

  2. yeah i gots to agree with you to the dude is not the best at what he does but i guess if it aint workin with him juss hand it off to portis i mean geesh the skins need to get someone else under center and get rid of that tired old west coast system...

  3. I am not a Redskins fan in any way, shape or form. I think when you consider Jason Campbell's NFL experience, talent, strength, and intangibles, you have a potential superstar. IMO he has the potential (I hate to use that word), to be better than a lot of the other NFC QB's. He and Jim Zorn are both in a learning period, and it might take a little time to get on the same page. Give them a chance and I think when it starts clicking for both of them, that he will become a consistant pro-bowl calliber QB.

  4. I cant believe u dont even give the guy a chance , no one has , he has had to LEARN a NEW  offensive system Every year , even back to at least his last 2 years at Auburn , that i know of, the guy could be great , if they didnt keep switching the system and playbook on him every year , give him a chance at least maybe a year or two to be comfortable in the system until u start saying he sucks

  5. The answer is Colt Brennan.

  6. I think even Collins is better than Campbell. When Campbell was out at the end of last season look how good the skins did.

  7. Colt Brennan was awesome in preseason... true, against other teams' second and third stringers, but still sharp.  They gotta give him a chance soon.

  8. Let's be realistic here.  Campbell only has about 25 games of experence.  That is not 2 years.  He's clearly not the guy for Zorn's offence.  If he can be made into that guy remains to be seen.  He throws when the reciever is open and Zorn has said that he wants to get the ball out and let the reciever make the play for the ball.  Honestly, I don't think you have the recievers you need for that kind of system.  That means having a Receiver with GREAT hands and some size like a Fitzgerald.  I think Campbell is looking at his own Career and saying If I follow this coach and I end up throwing 5 interceptions per game I won't have a team to go to, but if I play safe I may have a role with another team.

  9. I've watched Campbell play football for 6 years.. back at Auburn, they were all like "give campbell a chance to try" when they had Ben Leard (Gag).. eventually he got his shot but not until his Junior year did he get significant time.. he was ok but not great.. then they brought in 5* recruit Brandon Cox who was a "hometown boy" from Birmingham.. and the crowd all wanted Campbell sent packing.. he responded (with his 4th coordinator in 4 years) by going undefeated..

give this guy a little time.. eventually it'll come together and when it does NFL beware.. lol he really does have some tools to be seriously one of the top QB's in the NFL and when it all comes together he'll be there.. be patient or be Houston and David Carr when it comes to Colt Brennan

  10. You do realize the ENTIRE team looked awful last night. The play-calling was redundant and expected. Nothing was clicking with the Redskins last night on both sides of the ball, they couldn't pass, they couldn't run, there were about 3 other times Eli should have been intercepted and they missed, the DBs couldn't cover the Giants at all. I mean, they wouldn't even come close to them until about after 13 yards after a catch. It was terrible.

As for Jason Campbell, if you add up all his games, it doesn't even amount to two entire seasons, and he's on his like third or fourth offensive coordinator. I like Colt Brennan and he was good during pre-season, against THIRD and FOURTH string defenses, and you do realize that all Hawaii did was pass which is where his numbers came from. Don't forget Hawaii's offense didn't look that spectacular against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

I know that Jason didn't play his best game, but that was a team loss, because the entire team looked like they didn't know the regular season was here.

    That's my 2 for 2.

  11. COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLT!!!

  12. I give him at least to the end of the season.  If he's still not producing, he may be packing his stuff.  Just remember to keep an eye on your luggage....  wouldn't want someone else running off with it...  I'm not saying any names though.
