Jason Day looking for a confident start at the HP Byron Nelson Championship - Golf News
Jason Day is confident to return to action strongly, as he will tee off at the HP Byron Nelson Championship at the TPC Four Seasons Resort in Irving, Texas, scheduled for May 17 to 20, 2012.
It is the similar event that witnessed him earn the first ever PGA Tour victory of his career.
Day enjoyed the 2011 golf season with some really good finishes in different parts of the world. He stood second in both the Masters and US Open in 2011.
At the start of the 2012 golf season, he reached the seventh spot in the Official World Golf Rankings with a second-place finish in the European Tour’s Qatar Masters.
Overall, he has been playing some good golf on both the European as well as the PGA Tour.
However, he has not been able to record a victory so far in 2012, which is making him a little nervous.
After withdrawing from the Masters Tournament, he became more ambitious and hungry for a win while he heads for the HP Byron Nelson Championship.
"It fuels the hunger," Day said. "I was so bored at home, I wanted to just get back out there and play”.
"I haven't played that much this year, and I'd like to be in a better spot on the money list and world rankings. But you can't play through injuries and expect to compete against the best, so I am glad I took the break. There is a good chunk of tournaments
coming up, and I just have to be patient in my golf”.
"That's the hardest part for me, not to force things, because I really want to go out and do well and get a win. But forcing it won't work".
Day is also expected to miss the upcoming British Open in the month of July as his wife is expecting the couple’s first baby on July 11, 2012.
Day told earlier that he would prefer to stay with his family rather than play golf, as the family means the most to him.
He told that if the baby comes during the expected week, he will not even give it a second thought and will definitely miss the tournament.
