Jason Day will return to action in the Wells Fargo Championship – Golf News
Jason Day has announced his return to the US PGA Tour after taking one month off, following his left ankle strain injury that he suffered during the Masters Tournament, last month.
Day withdrew from the tournament and he was advised by the doctors to take complete rest in order to recover from the injury.
Therefore, he did not participate in any of the events on the PGA Tour since then. He now plans to appear in the Wells Fargo Championship at the Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina.
After Quail Hollow, he will then move to make an appearance in The Players Championship and Byron Nelson Championship in successive weeks.
Day was advised to remain out of course for around six weeks. On the contrary, he is making his return to the game just after four weeks.
"It's feeling a lot better," Day said. "It takes about six weeks to fully heal and I have taken about four weeks off but the pain is gone. I don't think it will be an issue".
"I'm probably at 80 per cent," he added. "I won't be going full bore at it this week but it's part of three big tournaments in a row I want to play well in".
According to him, he is pretty excited to return to the game, as he was getting bored while sitting idle at home, missing the tournaments.
"It fuels the hunger," he said. "I was so bored at home, I wanted to just get back out there and play. I haven't played that much this year and I'd like to be in a better spot on the money list and world rankings".
In 2012, he has played a total of five events so far and has not been able to register a single top-10 finish. Apart from that, he has also slipped down to the 16th spot in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Last year, he recorded a total of 10 top-10 finishes that earned him a place in the top-10 of the OWGR.
While keeping all that in mind, Day is now planning to make a good run in the upcoming tournaments to improve his rankings back again.
