Jason Dufner all set to be happily wed after his phenomenal win at Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Winner of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Jason Dufner is now all set to marry his fiancée Amanda Boyd on Saturday in Alabama and reckons that the victory is a good omen ahead of his wedding this week.
Dufner, who has been looking for his first PGA Victory for more than a decade, soared to the top of the leaderboard, taking over the grizzled Ernie Els of South Africa to land his first PGA Tour title.
A winner of three professional events in his career, Dufner has struggled to hold down his playing status on the PGA Tour and qualified for the same for the first time in the year 2007.
Finishing 127th in the FedEx Cup standings, the 35-year-old Dufner failed to retain his card and fell for a disappointing joint 149th in the Qualifying School.
He was allowed to stay on the PGA Tour with a conditional status and again appeared in the qualifying rounds to qualify for the year 2009.
He posted several strong finishes in consecutive years to stay on the PGA but was never able to land a title.
Dufner was talking on the “Morning Drive” on Golf Channel on Tuesday and recalled the 16th hole on the final round where he dropped his drive in the water hazard.
He said, "Funny thing is I had that putt within a foot or so in either direction last year on a Thursday and actually made it. That prior experience from last year helped me out”.
Dufner’s phenomenal win comes at a time when the two-time Nationwide Tour winner decides to get married.
He added, "With most weddings, there's a lot of last-minute details that are going on. When we got home Sunday, we were thinking about how much stuff we had to get done. And yesterday we knocked out quite a bit of it. Amanda's got quite a few more details
to do, but I pretty much just get to show up on Saturday”.
While the preparations for the mega event are still underway, Dufner says he is almost done with his part of the preparations and insists Amanda has still a long way to go.
