Jason Dufner eyes another victory after Zurich Classic of New Orleans – Golf News
For the first time in eight years, Jason Dufner succeeded in registering a win on the PGA Tour when he defeated Ernie Els at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last week.
This was not the first time that the New Orleans witnessed a player make a breakthrough in his PGA Tour career.
Since the inception of the tournament in 1990, there have been 12 players, who registered the first victories of their career in New Orleans.
Right after the Zurich Classic, he announced to take a week off in order to get married with his fiancée Amanda Boyd in Alabama.
"I'm very lucky to have her," Dufner said. "She's very supportive and been a hundred percent behind me from day one with this golf thing. So, you know, I don't have many doubts or questions about that part of my life. That's for sure. One-foot putts, sometimes".
Therefore, he will not be a part of the published field of the Wells Fargo Championship, scheduled for this week.
As a result, he will have to wait for a few more days if he wants to register another victory of his career, which he looks to achieve soon because of the consistency in his performance.
The 2012 PGA Tour season witnessed him play some good golf in all the events he played. However, he missed the chance to hoist the trophy in two other events, in which he recorded a top-three finish each.
"There's been a good bit of pressure - not pressure - but just people talking about, 'Why aren't you winning, why can't you close the deal?'" Dufner explained.
He is now confident to keep his winning momentum going in the next tournament that he is confirmed to play.
With a win in the Zurich Classic, he charged in the Official World Golf Rankings and earned a top-20 spot while taking top-10 in the FedEx Cup standings.
After getting married in Alabama, he will then move to Florida in order to participate in the Players Championship at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach.
He is now among the favourites to win the tournament at TPC Sawgrass because of his regained form on the tour.
