Jason Dufner to skip start of FedEx Cup playoffs
Players from all over the world have tried their best to bag as many points as they can for the FedEx Cup. This is a long awaited event and the fans and players have been waiting for it anxiously. The first round of the FedEx Cup which is Barclays starts
on the 21st of August and ends on the 26th of August.
At this event the biggest names in the world of golf are going to gather at one spot to fight for glory. The fans of the game are definitely going to get their money’s worth on this one. During the first playoff, which is in a week, 125 players are going
to go head to head.
Jason Dufner is one of those players who has performed very well and was definitely one of the favourites for the tournament. In the FedEx ranking, he has quite successfully occupied the third spot.
Recently the American professional golfer decided that he would be skipping the first event of the FedEx Cup, which is the Barclays. The reason that Dufner is skipping the first round is that he wants to rest for the late season schedule.
Dufner has been a prominent feature of the PGA Tour this year and has also participated in other Tours as well and now he is sitting this one out so that he may be rested for the coming events.
“I’ve had a pretty heavy schedule since Firestone or so and I’m looking forward to the second part of the Playoffs,” Dufner told Ross. “I’m just not going to be able to do eight out of nine weeks with the TOUR Championship and Ryder Cup at the end of it”.
The 35-year-old golfer will be appearing in another event this week. He will be starting the Wyndham Championship and will be looking to surpass the world number 3 in the official golf ranking, Tiger Woods. He would be playing alongside new rivals Tiger
Woods and Rory McIlroy.
Dufner has a bit different thinking, like other players he is not doing it for money or fame. He is just doing this for the love of the game.
