Jason Dunford claims Men’s 100m butterfly title: Day two – 2011 All Africa Games
Day two of the 2011 All African Games saw the impressive swim of Jason Dunford of Kenya in Zimpeto National Stadium, in Maputo, Mozambique, on Tuesday, September 6. Around 53 nations have been participating in the 2011 All African Games which gives swimmers
a great chance to compete and test their skills. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 100m butterfly final heat.
In the corresponding meet, Jason Dunford of Kenya gave the best attempt and grabbed the gold medal on the podium after he touched the finishing wall by posting a winning time of 52.13 seconds. More importantly, Dunford beat his previous meet record of 53.40
seconds, set back at the 2007 edition of the competition. The effort was under his current season’s best mark of 51.59 seconds.
After the race, Dunford was contented due to his impressive swim in the respective meet. Jason further added that he will be determined to carry on with his winning form for futuristic swimming events.
In the corresponding race, Chad Le Clos of South Africa earned silver medal on the podium by submitting a stunning time of 52.17 seconds. The effort also moved him to Number 17 place in the current rankings of world swimming. In the meantime, Neil Watson
of South Africa took home the bronze medal of the platform by posting a matchless time of 55.14 seconds.
Meanwhile, Oussama Shanoune of Algeria earned fourth placed honours with an impressive mark of 56.32 seconds and Yellow Yeiyah of Nigeria rounded out the top five in a time of 56.71 seconds. Quinton Delie of Namibia was placed sixth in a time of 57.40 seconds,
while Joao Matias of Angola wound up seventh with a time of 57.53 seconds. Last, but not the least, Sofyan Elgadi settled eighth after he touched the finishing wall and ended his swim in the respective meet with a time of 58.27 seconds.
The arena gave a huge round of applause for all participants of the meet, while the winners were honoured medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
