Jason Estrada clobbers Dominique Alexander with an impressive knockout win – Boxing news
Jason Estrada made a huge comeback in his hometown by collecting an impressive second round knockout win over Dominique Alexander, in a non-title eight-round bout fought on March 9, 2012.
The heavyweight bout was scheduled to headline “Who’s Next?” pay-per-view presented by Big Six Entertainment and the ring for the event was set up at Convention Center situated in Providence, Rhode Island, United States.
Jason made a huge rather impressive return from an elbow injury that almost brought an end to his career. Estrada, 31, has been in a total 22 bouts and came out victorious in 17. He has collected just four wins by knockout and recently recuperated from a
surgery that was conducted on his elbow and ankle.
Estrada had been facing difficulties in his career because of his injuries. Since 2004, the American orthodox has felt problems in his ankle and has undergone many treatments and surgeries. In addition the ‘Big Six’, has also forfeited many engagements just
because of his ailments.
America’s number 17 heavyweight, Jason, recently fought against Joseph Rabotte and collected a unanimous decision win but the bout inflicted much damage to his injuries. As a result he went to the doctor and after careful deliberations decided to undergo
the elbow and ankle surgery which eventually went successful.
Estrada soon started sparring to take on his fellow countryman Dominique Alexander. Widely known as the ‘Diamond’, Alexander resides pretty far in the world rankings. The only two aspects that gave him an upper hand over the recuperating Jason was experience
and height.
Alexander, 29, has been in a total 36 bouts and came out victorious in 22. He has won 10 of his bouts by knocking the opponents out. Alexander was also coming from a first round knockout win over rookie Clinton Boldridge, a bout that cannot at all intimidate
any opponent.
The duo entered the ring and the whole Providence arena got shocked by the impressive pugilism of their hometown brawler Estrada. Jason did not halt at all and unleashed his full might over Alexander who eventually got stunned and fell down on the ring floor
in just the second round.
After collecting an impressive victory in six minutes and 29 seconds, Estrada commented, “I felt good and knew that I was in good shape. The big difference was the time between my last fight, December. That’s the big thing, staying active. I was lifting
weights a lot with my father and it showed tonight. I hit him with a short right and left as he was going down. He was a tough kid who kept trying.”
Jason is back on track after collecting a second consecutive win and feels great about his injuries. Estrada now has 18 wins in his resume out of a total 23 and Alexander has collected his career’s 14th defeat.
