Jason Garrison scores game-winner as Florida Panthers overtake Buffalo Sabres 3-2 -NHL Match Update
Buffalo still has not been able to bounce back after losing two straight against the Tampa Bay Lightning as they faced another loss against the Florida Panthers with Jason Garrison making the game-winner and overtaking the Sabres, 3-2, Saturday night, October
29, at the sold-out First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York, United States.
Comparing Florida’s opening performance during the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season with their last year record shows that the team has certainly changed up their game-play for the better and could be a top contending team this time
around.
"We talked a lot about all this new personnel we have, and you can do all the team-bonding stuff you want, it's game's like (this) that make a difference for you", said Panthers coach Kevin Dineen, who, like most of his players, is a newcomer to Florida.
"It turns into a good road trip -- could have been a great road trip, but you've got to like the bounce-back game".
Marcel Goc inaugurated the scoring nearly midway through the scoring to put Florida ahead, but Thomas Vanek scored his eighth of the season at the 18:14 mark to level the match and force an intense third period competition.
Jason Pominville made the tie-breaker in favour of the home team with a little over seven minutes left in the final period, giving the 18,000 plus crowd a chance to roar with joy as they braced for victory, but two straight goals by Tomas Fleischmann and
Jason Garrison on a power play secured the deal for the visitors.
"We're playing good hockey", said Florida goalie, Jose Theodore. "Even in Ottawa we think we could have won that game. The guys are really dedicated to the little details, and to playing real well".
Florida Panthers hope to continue their winning as they have the next three games at home starting off with the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, while Buffalo will be attempting a comeback against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, November 2.
As both teams have extremely high hopes vested in this season, it will surely be thrilling to continue following both to see which emerges on-top of the other as the series progresses.
