Jason Giambi sparks as Colorado Rockies defeat Florida Marlins 7-4 - MLB Update

Colorado Rockies’ first baseman, Jason Giambi outclassed the pitchers by hitting a walk-off homer including three RBIs and went 2-for-5 with an average of .267 in the Rockies’ 7-4 win against the Florida Marlins at Coors Field, Colorado on August 15.
Marlins put two runs on score-board to get a 2-0 lead. Mike Stanton hit a two-run homer (474 feet) towards left-centre and Ben Petersen scored a single run to raise the potential of Marlins. On the other side, Rockies took their initial run at the bottom
of second inning and reduced their lead 2-1 when Jonathan Herrera hit a grounder into fielder’s choice to first base and Troy Tulowitzki added a single run.
Chris Nelson got out to second base and Giambi moved to third base to end the second inning. Rockies went ahead 3-2 by posting two consecutive runs during third inning. Tulowitzki struck a two-run homer (422 feet) to left-field and Eric Young Jr. contributed
the leading run for Rockies at the bottom of third inning.
In fourth inning, Marlins’ batters also scored two runs to take a 4-3 lead. John Buck hit a solo homer (378 feet) towards right-field and Gaby Sanchez posted one run to give the Marlins an upper edge. Fifth to eighth inning of the game remained empty for
both sides as the batters struggled and pitchers got advantage to overcome them.
Rockies’ starter, Kevin Millwood was little bit shaky with the ball as he pitched six innings and presented four runs, two homers, seven hits, one walk and four earned runs with an ERA of 4.85. He struck out three batters on his 87 pitches. At the bottom
of eighth inning, Tulowitzki walked and stole second base but at centre-field, Eliezer Alfonzo lined out and Giambi popped out at short-stop position.
Giambi said, “I just missed a slider before, fouled it straight back. I was thinking, 'God, I'd love to have that one again. And he ended up making that same mistake.”
Ninth inning was in favour of Rockies as they smashed four runs to get a 7-4 lead. Dexter Fowler scored one run when Carlos Gonzalez doubled to deep right-field. Giambi struck a three-run homer (400 feet) to right-field while Gonzalez and Tulowitzki both
added two runs jointly to end the four-run campaign.
However, Rockies led off the three-game series 1-0 played at Colorado.
