Jason Gore shares the third spot after round two of the Price Cutter Charity Championship
The American Jason Gore recorded a four-under par 68 on Friday to finish one stroke behind the leader after round two of the Price Cutter Charity Championship, presented by Dr Pepper at the Highland Springs Country Club.
The Web.com Tour's all-time victory leader surged to the top of the leaderboard early in the morning after he recorded a five-under par score on the back nine.
"I was just worried about getting over to number one," he said. "You know you've got another par-5 coming. Don't take a rest out here because nobody else is. You've got to keep going".
However, he failed to keep the momentum going into the front nine and parred eight holes along with a bogey to settle for a shared third place.
"I did have some good looks and some good chances. The putts that were going in yesterday and early today burned the edges on that side," he said. "You can't get frustrated, you move on. I made putts I shouldn't have made and missed putts I shouldn't have
missed".
According to Gore, the main reason behind his stunning performance on the outward nine was his control over his putter. At the same time, his average performance on the inward nine also had the putter behind it.
He was pretty good off the tee and played some of the best drives of the day. However, whenever he reached the greens on the front, he struggled to turn the ball in for birdies.
As a result, his efforts early in the round were offset by his putting mistakes during the later stage.
Scott Harrington, who shared the fourth spot along with Gore after the opening round, joined him once again on the leaderboard with a 11-under par overall score.
Harrington started off on the back nine of the course and parred each of the nine holes before recording a birdie on the first hole (his 10th).
Another birdie on the fifth hole along with an eagle on the eighth hole allowed him to remain in contention for the title while entering the weekend.
Omar Uresti, along with another five players, was tied for the fifth position with a 10-under par two-round score.
