Jason Kidd, Ray Allen, Ben Wallace -
Milestones accomplished in the 2010-2011 NBA season (Part-3)
Jason Kidd
Dallas Mavericks veteran shooting guard Jason Kidd, who only lacked an NBA title on his resume, finally managed to put on a championship ring on his finger last season by helping the Mavericks in landing their first ever Larry
O’Brien Trophy.
Jason accomplished his championship dream in the final stages of his career which removed the scare of retiring without an NBA title for him.
"It's a dream come true. It's not real right now because--just the battles with the Heat and understanding the journey--it's been a long journey of 17 years." "I can’t put it into words, it's like a dream right now. The journey,
besides this season, but just 17 years of playing against the best players in the world, coming up short two times and then having the opportunity when I'm 38 years old, to play for a championship.” Kidd said on finally winning it all.
Apart from becoming an NBA Champion, the 38-year-old Kidd achieved another milestone by becoming the second player in the history of the National Basketball Association to dish out more than 11000 career assists.
The Hall of Famer and former Utah Jazz’s legendary point guard John Stockton leads the list by a comprehensive margin of 15806 career assists. Jason finished the 2010-2011 season with 11578 assists, more than 4000 behind John.
Considering Kidd is 38 years old and will only play couple of more seasons, John’s All-Time record of most assist might remain unattainable.
1000 Games
The list of players who had played 1000 games featured few more additions during the 2010-2011 season making it 97 NBA players who have reached the mark. The names of the players who played in their 1000th game during
the last season include Tim Duncan of San Antonio Spurs, Ben Wallace of Detroit Pistons, Kurt Thomas of Chicago Bulls and Antonio McDyess of San Antonio Spurs.
Dallas Mavericks’ sharp-shooter Dirk Nowitzki, who has played 993 games, will be the next NBA player to congregate 1000 games if he doesn’t miss out too many games in the beginning of the next season.
Ray Allen
Boston Celtics 36 year old shooting guard Ray Allen tagged himself as NBA’s best shooter from beyond the arc in the last season after breaking Reggie Miller’s three point record. With a landmark of 2612 career three-point shots
by the end of the last season, Allen is now the all time leader in three pointers made.
Ray Allen connected more than 44 percent of his shots from downtown during the 2010-2011 which is his best shooting percentage in 15 seasons. As a result, his career shooting percentage went up to 39.85 percent which is 40th
all time best.
Ben Wallace
Apart from recording more than 1000 career games, Detroit Pistons veteran power forward Ben Wallace also became the third active NBA player in the last season to record more than 10,000 career rebounds. Overall, the 36 year old
Wallace is now ranked at the 33rd spot in the All-time list for rebounds.
Wallace still has a couple of athletic seasons left in his career which will enable him to advance further in his record of rebounds.
