Jason Kidd: Top Performances of during 2011 NBA Playoffs Quarter-Finals (Part 1)
The 38 year old guard of the Dallas Mavericks, Jason Kidd is considered as the key member of the squad. During the 2011 playoffs, Kidd helped the Mavs win many games with his handy contributions.
In the 2010-11 regular season, Kidd scored 7.9 points, clutched 4.4 rebounds and provided 8.2 assists per game. Then at the start of the postseason, Kidd raised his statistics as he scored at an average of 9.3 points, grabbed 4.5
rebounds and dished out 7.3 assists per game.
Kidd has always been a threat for his rivals and he stands at number three spot when it comes to hitting triple-double in the regular-season and at second in the playoffs. So far Kidd has made 107 triple-doubles in the regular
season and 11 in the postseason.
Here are the top performances of Kidd in 2011 National Basketball Association Playoffs Quarter-Finals, where Dallas match up was fixed with the Portland trail Blazers.
Game-1: Dallas Mavericks 89 – Portland Trail Blazers 81
Jason Kidd marshalled the Dallas Mavericks, as they overcame the Portland Trail Blazers in an 89-81 victory at American Airlines Centre, Dallas on April 16 in the first game of the quarter-finals. During the games Dallas shooting
percentage was 52.6 from beyond the arc.
Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said, "We had some guys that didn't play their best games, but Jason Kidd played the game of the year to this point. Every shot he made, every play he made was absolutely essential for us. His
leadership is something you can't quantify."
Kidd provided the Mavs super start and during his 34 minutes of stay on court, Jason poured in 24 points along with five rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block. From the field Jason hit 9 of 14 and six from the three-point
range out of his 10 attempts. With his six whooshes, Kidd achieved new high of his career in the postseason.
Portland head coach Nate McMillan said, "I thought that we needed to get closer to those guys on the 3-point line. We knew that this was a good 3-point shooting team. Kidd, once he makes a 3, he's going to get aggressive and look
for that shot even more."
Kidd cast a shadow over his regular-season high with his 24-point performance that helped the Mavs to take a 10-point lead at the break (Jason made 21 points against the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year). Out of his 24 points,
eight of them came in the first quarter of the game that included two long range missiles.
