Jason Kidd tells LeBron James to keep the faith – NBA Special
Jason Kidd’s 17 year career reached its zenith when Dallas Mavericks knocked down the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. Along the way though, Kidd has faced a lot of tough times and some huge heartbreaks. He went near the NBA World
Championship twice before, back in 2002 and 2003. However his New Jersey Nets side failed both times, falling to the “Shaq and Kobe” combo of the Los Angeles Lakers the first time and the Tim Duncan led San Antonio Spurs in the second.
With his peak years past him, people wrote off Jason Kidd, but the veteran kept his faith and was ultimately rewarded with a championship ring.
LeBron James is in a similar position now - on the losing end of two NBA Finals. The pressure on LeBron however is far greater than what Kidd had to face. LeBron was the “Chosen One” and after his much criticized switch to the
Miami Heat, he simply couldn’t afford to lose out.
Still he did lose and now the haters are out to hunt him down. However, Jason Kidd has thrown his support behind the hounded superstar. Kidd was the only Dallas player who hugged James at the end of the Finals and he revealed that
LeBron congratulated Jason on the win.
Now Kidd says that he will make an effort to help LeBron through this tough period. Kidd added that Kings James reign will come soon but for now he has to go through the hardships and just keep trying. Jason firmly believed that
LeBron will be successful in the future,
“I will reach out to him. He’s a good friend of mine,” Kidd said Tuesday during the Dallas Mavericks team’s exit interviews. “I want him to have success and be successful. But, I think right now, it’s just being patient and all
the great ones had to be patient. They had to take their bumps or lumps, however you want to look at it.”
Jason added that to take his place among the greats, ultimately LeBron had to win an NBA World Championship. James has a phenomenal talent and great players surrounding him at the Miami Heat, namely Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade,
so the task should not be too hard.
Jason Kidd reiterated his belief that LeBron James will win some NBA championships in the future and cement his reputation as one of the greats of the game,
“But, at the end of the day, they all found a way to win a championship. And I think at the end of his career, he’ll have a couple championships.”
LeBron will be hoping those future triumphs come sooner than later.
