Jason King of Sea Eagles out of remaining National Rugby League season
It has been confirmed on Monday, August 7th, that Jason King who co-captains the Sea Eagles has suffered a serious pectoral muscle rupture at Brookvale Oval during the first-half of the game against the Sydney Roosters on Sunday, which has ousted him from
the rest of the National Rugby League (NRL) season.
The massive win of 36-8 by the Eagles was spoiled by the injuries that were reported during the clash and King’s injury was the worst. King was off-field within the first 20 minutes of Sunday’s clash.
King had to undergo his examination this past Monday and it was confirmed that he will not be able to play his part in the remaining NRL season, as the degree of injury is too severe. A surgical procedure of the injury will be carried out next week.
According to Des Hasler, who coaches Manly, the club’s staff had anticipated even worse when King had to depart the game on Sunday. It was acknowledged by the coach that King is one of the most dependable players on the squad but with his elimination from
the squad, someone else will have to step up to take up his position.
King’s forward-partner, Brent Kite said about the injured co-captain, that he is a strong guy and “maybe, as a result, he picks up these extra little injuries at the wrong time.”
While appreciating the remaining squad members, the coach acknowledged the potential of King as a player and added, “Our club doctor Paul Bloomfield was adamant yesterday that the news was going to be what it is. I feel so sorry for Jason who is a heck of
a person and an inspirational co-captain of the side. He will be missed but I am confident in the players who will now get an opportunity."
However, King has promised his squad members that he will be present for them throughout the NRL final, as he was devastated to find out that he will no longer be able to take part in the remaining season.
While talking about his latest injury, King shared that being a forward player in the brutal game of rugby makes him more susceptible to injury but this does not mean that he is no more part of the team.
He further added he will ensure his presence until the concluding spells of the game and is convinced of his team’s resilience.
King of Manly believes that his club is a perfect blend of experience and youth and shared that his club, "is a special bunch of mates going in the one direction. We can jump any hurdle with the 17 we put on the field each week.”
