Jason Kipnis discusses Cleveland Indians after recent loss to Texas Rangers – MLB Update
Cleveland Indians’ second baseman Jason Kipnis was recently available to talk about the 4-7 loss against the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Thursday, September 15.
The game that was played highlighted some of the missed opportunities Cleveland failed to read from the hitting line up. Kipnis was involved in the game and he talked about the loss to the Rangers in a few words.
Alexi Ogando conceded two hits in the fixture against the Indians from six innings of pitching. The Rangers however conceded four runs in the last three innings when bullpen relievers; Darren Oliver, Mike Adams and Neftali Feliz came onto the mound to pitch.
The Indians had their chances in the strike zone against Ogando as well, but many misread the line and swung fruitlessly. The second inning detailed a certain opportunity that passed when Lonnie Chisenhall missed on two fastballs when the count was 3-1.
Carlos Santana was on third base at the time, after he was allowed to walk to first base. Grady Sizemore was on second base and Shelley Duncan had walked to first base. The inning was potentially heading for a big roll-in but Chisenhall messed up on the
bases loaded opportunity.
The Indians still had one man in the play but he too was ineffective. Lou Marson came in on two outs and he had a bases loaded vision. Ogando put him on 0-2 with sliders. However the third ball was a fastball. Marson missed on a golden opportunity and it
was Cleveland on the losing end.
"He had a good fastball and live arm, but I thought we helped him out," Kipnis said. "We were battling. We had some good at-bats. We got his pitch count up, and they had Scott Feldman up in the bullpen. We had some good swings and some bad ones."
Another opportunity was on the horizon in the ninth when the Indians slashed Neftali Feliz with two runs. The pressure never mounted as Kipnis and Jason Donald struck-out in the end.
"No one on this team enjoys losing," Kipnis said. "And it's not going to start now. We're going to keep competing and playing hard."
The Indians are currently at third place in the American League Central and they have the opportunity to climb to second place by the end of the regular season.
