Jason Kipnis shines as Cleveland Indians thrash St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians thrashed the St. Louis Cardinals in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 10 at Busch Stadium in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Second baseman Jason Kipnis smashed three homers and gave the Indians a decent win in the ninth inning.
"That's the game right there, I thought both starting pitchers did a great job, it just came down to who can execute late." Kipnis said after the game with slight detail about
Chris Perez pitched the last and important inning and earned a great win for Indians.
"I drank some warm water and I ran out there, and it just didn't settle well, What am I going to do, call timeout and run into the dugout? If you remember, a couple years ago in spring training it was the same situation." Perez said about his outing which
proved wonderful for his team in the decisive game.
On the other hand, the Cardinals closer Jason Motte proved real disaster for his team. He gave three crucial runs when the game could have gone to St. Louis’ favour instead; it gave the Indians’ clear advantage as they finished the game in style defeating
their opponents with big margin.
“Guys are grinding. They're fighting, and I'm going to continue to stay optimistic because that's what I believe. It's not a facade -- it's only a matter of time before we take off.”  Cardinals’ manager Mike Matheny said after the game about his team’s poor
effort which could not even score enough to match the Indians.
Indians from start to finish dominated the game and did not give any chance to the Cardinals who literally never even tried to bounce back from their three runs’ stretch and eventually lost the game with bitter humiliation.
Cardinals with this win are now standing at third position in the National League Central with 31-30 win loss record along with .508 winning percentage.
On the other hand, the Indians are at second position in the American League Central with 32-27 win loss record along with .542 winning percentage.
