Jason Knutzon finishes tied for the second position at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship
Jason Knutzon of the United States knew that the only thing that could help him shine at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship was resilience.
He apparently followed his own advice as he shot an eight-under par overall score at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club to finish tied for the second position along with the legendary Thaworn Wiratchant.
Knutzon, who was hoping to end a five-year title drought on the Asian Tour, got off to a flying start on day one, as he posted a stunning 66 in the opening round.
The American star looked even more confident after he finished just two strokes behind the leader Gaganjeet Bhullar, heading into the final round of the tournament.
The final round witnessed him record a 71 – something that helped him match the score of a player, who has recorded the maximum number of victories on the tour – Wiratchant (14 Asian Tour victories).
Knutzon played brilliantly in the event that featured a number of big names from all over the world.
His ball striking was amazing and he rolled the ball well on the greens. Under difficult playing conditions, he kept his momentum intact and provided a strong challenge to his rivals in the field.
According to the golf commentators, if the American could have managed to post a little better in the final round, he could have easily taken the third Asian Tour title of his career home.
He himself looked really happy with his performance throughout the week. During the first round, he recorded a hole-in-one on the fifth hole and became the only player in the history of the tournament to do so.
“What a week it has been. I started off with the hole-in-one and I had such an awesome day the first day. I wished we were able to keep playing. It was unfortunate but the tournament did the best job it could to get all three rounds in and we got a decent
finish,” said Knutzon.
“Hopefully this means more good things to come. I feel pretty good and hopefully I can get it moving after this,” added Knutzon.
