Jason Kubel comes to an agreement with Arizona Diamondbacks – MLB Update
It is certainly difficult for anyone to keep a secret these days. Yesterday, news surfaced from the CBSSportsonline.com that Kubel had agreed to a deal with Arizona Diamondbacks.
This is a big deal for Kubel. Most of the analysts predicted that Kubel will be getting around 5-6 million US dollars a year for his services but he got a much better deal than that.
Now, Kubel will have the opportunity to play in a hitter’s park and score as many runs as possible. According to www.hittrackeronline.com, only two other hitting parks have yielded more home runs than Arizona’s home field last season.
Jason Kubel possesses sensational hitting abilities. However, we did not get to see the best of him in the season 2011. After failing to meet expectations in the year 2010, Kubel came back strongly in the following season. However, he hurt his foot in one
of the league games on May 20 and never recovered.
He hit the ball well on his return to the Majors League in July, 2011, but since his foot never fully healed, he was unable to deliver the goods in the later stages of the season and his OPS dropped to .702 at the end of the regular season. The statistics
were not formidable for someone who sets very high standards for himself.
If Jason stays healthy enough, he is certainly going to hit a lot of homers in that park this season. The striker had a superb 2009 season when he scored heavily with 103 RBIs and .300 and now, he will be looking to match those stats in 2012. In presence
of Justin Upton, Stephen Drew, Ryan Roberts and Paul Goldschmidt, Kubel will have a great chance to play his natural game with freedom.
With so many players leaving the Twins side this season, it has been very hard to concentrate on the ones signing in. It will not be wrong to say that Twins will need to get their replacements soon to stand a chance of reaching the World Series in 2012.
Even young players are not ready to take over, but the team management is still confident of finding fresh talent to bring more spark into the side.
With Kubel and Type B free agent leaving, Minnesota will have another draft pick as compensation. The Twins will still have the number two overall pick in the draft as Josh Willingham’s pick is protected. Kubel is one of the most talented baseball individuals.
With his astonishing hitting abilities, the Twins will be looking to make most of the available opportunities this season. If he can find his lost form, Kubel is sure to create problems for other top teams.
