Jason Lowe pleased with Blackburn Rovers opportunity, looks forward to 2012 Olympics
Blackburn Rovers youngster Jason Lowe revealed he was looking forward to receiving a call up for the England squad participating in the upcoming Olympics. The 20-year-old recently earned a call-up to the England under-21 international side after impressing
manager Stuart Pearce.
Pearce will also be managing the team which is to participate in the 2012 Olympics scheduled to be held in London, which increases Lowe’s chances of being in the final team. The young midfielder admitted he was currently aiming for a call-up for the prestigious
tournament.
Lowe said in an interview:
“It's definitely a goal to try and achieve but it's a long way away - it's at the back of my mind not at the front.
There is a long season ahead of us and what happens here is most important to me and any international recognition after that is a bonus.”
After some terrific performances, Lowe was awarded a five year contract with the English Premier League side, which may very well improve his chances with the national team. The youngster functions best as a midfielder, but is capable of performing the duties
of a full-back, if need be.
It was only after he was made captain of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-20 international side that Lowe graduated to the under-21 side in October of 2011. He revealed his pride at being able to represent the national team at various levels and hoped to continue to do
so in the future.
He revealed:
“I have made my Under-21 debut and that was a proud moment, and having the armband at the Under-20 World Cup was a great honour.”
Lowe began playing for Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 when he was only 11 years old and despite initially being a Manchester United supporter, he has grown to love his current club. He revealed he was grateful for the opportunity awarded to him and hoped to make the most
of it. Lowe was pleased with the year he had and was said he was looking forward to continuing on in the same way.
Low continued:
“This club has respect all over the country for its academy and the fact they are not afraid to give young players a chance.”
