Jason Pridie shines as New York Mets defeat Cincinnati Reds 8-6 - MLB Update

New York Mets’ centre-fielder, Jason Pridie had a notable day with the bat as he went 2-for-5 with an average of .237 and hit two RBIs in the Mets’ 8-6 win against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati on July 26.
In the first inning, the Mets’ batters posted two runs to take a 2-0 lead. David Wright was grounded out to short-stop and Justin Turner scored a single run. Carlos Beltran took the second run on the drive of Daniel Murphy towards left-field. During the
second inning, the batters were struck-out on the tricky throws of the pitchers.
The Mets blasted another two runs during the third inning to get a 4-0 lead. Beltran drove a single-run shot towards centre-field and Jose Reyes added one run. Beltran put one run on the score-board when Jason Bay hit a sacrifice fly to centre-field. Wright
moved to third base and Murphy occupied second base at the end of third inning.
On the other hand, the Reds scored their initial run during the fourth inning to reduce their lead 4-1 when Chris Heisey singled off left-field and Brandon Phillips posted one run. The Reds went ahead 5-4 by belting four runs in the fifth inning. Edgar Renteria
doubled to right field while Ramon Hernandez and Drew Stubbs both added two collective runs for the Reds.
Joey Votto struck a two-run homer towards left-field and Renteria contributed a leading run to the Reds’ score-card. Ronny Paulino and Bay both made two runs jointly in the sixth inning when Pridie drove a double-run shot towards right-field. As a result,
the Mets took a 6-5 lead over the Reds.
During the seventh inning, the Mets added two runs again to get an 8-5 lead. Murphy singled to centre-field and Beltran scored one run. The final run for the Mets was taken by Murphy when Angel Pagan drove towards centre-field and Paulino moved to third
base.
The Reds were able to score just one run in the eighth inning to cut their deficit 8-6 when Fred Lewis singled to centre-field and Heisey posted a single run. In the ninth inning, Votto drove a shot towards centre-field but Renteria struck-out swinging and
Jay Bruce also struck-out swinging.
The Mets took a 2-0 lead in the four-game series after winning a thrilling encounter.
