Jason Richardson, J.J Barea, Josh Smith:
Players expected to be in new teams next NBA season: Part 4
Jason Richardson
Among the players who were brought in by the Orlando Magic through the blockbuster trade late last year, the 30-year-old shooting guard Jason Richardson proved to be the best option. The athletic sharp-shooter averaged 13.9 points,
4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steal per game in Magic uniform, giving his new team a vital support in every aspect of the game.
However, considering that Jason is a free agent and Orlando Magic have not been able to be competitive off late, Richardson might also look for other elite teams. Richardson is a solid option on the offense and his perimeter shooting
is a trait which makes him invaluable for many of the hot shot teams going around.
J.J. Barea
The Puerto Rican basketball player J.J. Barea was one of the major components of the Dallas Mavericks team that dismantled Miami Heat last season and went on to win its first ever NBA title in 31 years of history. However, Barea’s
contract with the team expired on the completion of the 2010-2011 season and presently he is a free agent.
Despite the fact, that J.J. Barea was vital to the Mavericks and the franchise can only gain by re-signing him, his chances to return in the team are very slim. The reason is the current situation of the team and the league.
The Mavericks are already over the salary cap and they have to deal with a number of free agents waiting to re-sign with the team. With the implementation of the hard salary cap and amnesty clause in the new Collective Bargaining
Agreement, Dallas Mavericks will have to let go at least one of the star player from the championship cast and most probably the Puerto Rican basketball player J.J. Barea will fall in that category. Tyson Chandler, Caron Butler, DeShawn Stevenson Brendon Haywood
and Brian Cardinal are the other players and the Mavs are likely to go with the former three.
J.J. Barea however proved last season that he has the potential to change the scenario of a game all by himself and he would be more than a suitable bet for any good team.
Josh Smith
The versatile forward Josh Smith became the main point of interest for many NBA teams when the Atlanta Hawks expressed their desire to trade the NBA superstar in order to earn financial benefit.
Atlanta Hawks drafted the 25-year-old Josh Smith with the 17th overall pick during the 2004 NBA Draft. Since then, Smith has improved his game with every passing season and now holds the reputation of a versatile player
in the league. In the last season, Josh Smith averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals per game which shows the kind of impact he brings himself on the court.
Considering that Atlanta Hawks are planning to get a financial benefit by trading Josh Smith, many teams will have no problem whatsoever in making a good offer to acquire the brilliance of Smith who is in his prime at the moment.
