Jason Roberts could stay at Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts could still have a future with the club after an impressive run of form over recent weeks.
Roberts followed up his goal against former club Wigan Athletic by coming off of the bench to score the winner during the 2-1 win over Newcastle United last night.
"A player can always determine his own future. He has a deal which runs out in the summer and he's in control of it.
The message is 'keep playing like you are and if you earn a contract with us then great; if you don't you earn a really good contract somewhere else', but by doing it for us and by doing it for himself he puts himself
in a really strong position," said Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce, according to
Sky Sports.
Roberts is a great example of a typical English centre forward. He has lost a little pace over the years, but his strength and power is second to none in the Premier League.
He is in control of what happens next and he may seek a move to another club. He tried to leave the club over the summer, but a proposed move to another side fell through
at the last moment. His refusal to celebrate any goal he scores could also be a sign that he's thinking about the future.
"There was a situation that I could have left in the summer, but an agreement could not be made with clubs I know that were interested,
but now we'll see what happens in January. There's not much I can do; I don't pick the side I just train hard and when I'm put on the pitch I do what I did today," said Roberts.
Betting advice
Back Roberts to score over the next few games while his form is good. It seems likely he could be on his way in January and he'll only join a side where he is going to
be the main man in the attack.
