Jason Sager and Amanda Carey win fourth stage of 2011 Trans-Sylvania Epic: Cycling News
Jamis team’s Jason Sager won the fourth stage of 2011 Trans-Sylvania Epic in Raystown Lake on Wednesday, June 1.
Jason Sager took a total of 2 hours, 50 minutes and 34 seconds to cover a distance 68 kilometres.
Drew Edsall of the Super Cool Bike Shop and Firstplaceracing team was runner-up with 45 seconds behind Jason. Justin Lindine of the BikeReg.com and Joe's Garage and Scott team were in third place with a difference of 1 minute and 32 seconds.
Alex Grant of the Cannondale team was also in good form and tried his best to cross the other cyclists, but he failed and gained fourth place with 2 minutes and 26 seconds.
With nine miles to go, a group of six riders made their break, including Jason Sager, Adam Snyder, Jeremiah Bishop (Cannondale), Alex Grant, Justin Lindine (BikeReg.com and Joe’s Garage and Scott) and Drew Edsall (Super Cool Bike Shop/Fastpaceracing).
Bishop left with the group, but unfortunately he couldn’t keep up with the group as his tyre burst a couple of times. In the next lap of the race, Sager made his speed and attacked the other riders. He crossed the finish-line ahead of the other cyclists
without any difficulty.
In the women's category, Amanda Carey of the Kenda and Felt team won the fourth stage of Trans-Sylvania Epic 2011.
Amanda took a total of 3 hours, 23 minutes and 40 seconds to cover a distance of 68 kilometres. Sue Haywood of the Shenandoah Bikes, Kenda, Turner, I-9 team was runner-up with 2 minutes behind Amanda.
Rebecca Rusch of the Specialised team was in third place with difference of 6 minutes and 15 seconds.
Sonya Looney was the first rider, who caught Selene Yeager and other two riders Sue Haywood and Rebecca Rusch, began to chase. In the first lap Haywood and Rebecca join with Yeager. All of them working to gather, but eventually Yeager had to back down and
let Rusch go away.
In the final lap, Haywood maintained his speed and reduced the gap, but Carey had good legs so she crossed the finish-line ahead of Haywood and Rusch.
