Jason Terry, J.J. Barea: Top Performances from Game-6 of the NBA Finals (Part 1)
On Sunday night, the Dallas Mavericks finally got their hands on the holy grail of NBA when they knocked the Miami Heat 105-95 in game-6 of the NBA Finals. With this win, won the series 4-2 and claimed the first championship in
31 years of trying.
Back in 2006, in the NBA Finals, Miami routed the Mavs 4-2 and now in 2011 finals, the Mavs took their revenge and finally got rid of the scars they had received from the Heat.
After the game a jubilant Dirk Nowitzki said, "It took so long for us to get here. I don't really know if it would have made a difference [winning in Miami]. Just this feeling to be on the best team of the world is just indescribable."
Dallas took six games to over throw the Heat and lift the Larry O’ Brien Championship Trophy. Dallas looked shaky in the early games of the series, but they quickly grasped the momentum and nailed the Heat down 4-2.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, "It goes without saying. You're never really prepared for a moment like this. ... Neither team deserved this championship more than the other, but Dallas earned it."
During the game several players made good moves, but only few made contributions that stood out in the end. Here are the top performances of the day:
Jason Terry
Jason Terry was the player, who didn’t just led all scorers in the game, but also spearheaded the Mavericks in the game, as he scored 27 points, clutched three rebounds, provided two assists and made two steals off the bench.
During Terry’s 34 minutes stay on the court, he dazzled the floor with his 11-16 shooting from the field, from the three-point range he hit three out of his seven attempts and from the free line Jason was two of four.
With this outstanding performance Terry proved that what he said during the series he really meant it, as it was his most well-organized game in the entire series. He was proficient on the perimeter and made his way to the basket
quite easily.
Jose Juan Barea
Point guard Jose Juan Barea chipped in with 15 points along with five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Barea hit seven out of his 12 attempts from the field and shot one long range missile from the three-point range during
his thirty minutes log.
Dallas coach Rick Carlisle pushed Barea from the reserve to the starting line-up in game-4 and this move paid off big time, as it proved to be the most vital change of the entire series. J.J lifted the Mavs offensive unit with
his enigmatic speed that changed the typical game of the Mavs and allowed them to go for more fast break points.
