Jason Terry: Jason Kidd considers Rajon Rondo best point guard in the league – NBA News
Jason Terry has been promoting the Boston Celtics ever since he was signed by the team to a three year deal early in the summer as a replacement for future hall of famer Ray Allen.
Terry, one of the best 6th men in the league, played for the Dallas Mavericks for the last few seasons and won the NBA championship with them in the 2010-2011 season. But the Celtics offered him a three year contract
this off season and he was more than happy to accept. The Celtics were looking for someone to replace Allen, who joined the Miami Heat for half the money the Celtics has offered to pay him.
The most recent of Terry’s promotional activities for his new team came when he said that his former team mate, Jason Kidd, who is himself one of the best point guards of the last decade, holds a high regard for C’s swingman Rajon
Rondo.
Terry further said that Rondo is the best point guard in the league. The Fort Worth Star-Telegraph reports:
“Jason Kidd gave him the greatest compliment I've ever heard from a Hall of Famer that's still playing. He said, ‘There's no question Rajon Rondo is the best point guard. Chris Paul is great. Deron Williams is great, but Rajon
Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA,' '' said Terry.
It is becoming sort of standard operating procedure in the league for players to praise the point guards of teams they are about to join or have recently joined. A few months ago, C.J. Watson said that Deron Williams was the best
point guard in the league days after he joined the Brooklyn Nets.
Nonetheless, Terry’s comments might spark a debate as to who actually is the best point guard in the league.
Many will say that in a league dominated by point guards at the moment, Derrick Rose and Chris Paul clearly lead the pack, although Rondo is a close second. However, every person is entitled to his own opinion, and there is no
doubt in the fact that Rondo has been great for the Celtics in the guard position, making plays for the team and finding Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in good position for them to be able to score.
Rondo is a pass first shoot second type of point guard, more like a Chris Paul than a Derrick Rose. But his contribution to the team and his position as a point guard stands solidified in the league of today.
