Jason Terry could play for Miami Heat next year – NBA Update
As Jason Terry`s contract is expiring at Dallas and his request for an extension deal going un-heard by the Mavericks owners, Terry has decided to send Mark Cuban and Co. a feeler of a life after him.
Terry recently dwelled on the possible destinations if the Mavs decide not to renew his contract.
"My main goal was to come back and retire a Maverick.” He said while talking to Fox Sports Florida. “After no extension this past offseason, I figure it may be time for me to move on. But you never know& I would love to (continue)
in a Maverick uniform, don't get me wrong. But we'll see what happens.”
Despite showing interest in coming back to the team with whom he won a Championship and retiring there, Terry might have to consider other options for the rest of his career and we could see the quick paced guard displaying his
talents with the Miami Heat next season.
Terry sees Miami as a promising title contender and after Steve Nash, he has thrown his name in the list of elite players who could be moving to South Beach next season. Terry admitted that the Heat are a title contenders and
that Pat Riley and company have done an all around great job in the management of their three superstars and all other players.
After defeating the Heat in the last year's NBA finals, he also knows the one major weakness of the Heat and believes that he can be the man who fills in the final void;
"No question, they need a veteran shooter, a guy who can score besides LeBron (James) and (Dwyane Wade), and they know they can count on. I'm a guy that's been in this league 13 years, (averaging) 15 points a night, easy. Off the
bench or the starting lineup, it doesn't matter. So I think I'd be an asset to them."
While a move to Miami sounds promising, Terry needs to consider his options reasonably. Financially, Terry would have to compromise a lot in order for him to join Miami, who are already capped out with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade
and Chris Bosh on long term deals.
Terry, a one time NBA sixth man of the year is known for his fast pace style and his ability to shoot the ball off the dribble makes him a very difficult player to guard. A 13 year NBA veteran, with a championship experience to
boot, will certainly have many takers. A lot of possibilities are there as to where Jason Terry will be headed but one thing is for sure, that he will be taking his face paced and exciting style of play with him everywhere he goes.
There is still a possibility that Jason might stay at Dallas but time will only tell. As of now, one thing is for sure, Dallas has more to lose if Jet leaves. They would be losing an experienced guard who they have relied on to
be there for the team in pressure situations in the past.
