Jason Terry says he wants a multiple year contract otherwise he is bidding goodbye to Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks point guard Jason Terry has made his intentions regarding his future open to all.
The veteran guard wants to play basketball long term and is looking for a contract suiting his ambitions. If the Mavericks cannot offer it to him, he is moving forward.
Terry is all set to become a free agent this summer and the Mavericks guard believes he still has a few good seasons left in him. While talking to Dallas Morning News’ Eddie Sefko, Terry said:
“It’s a tough situation. I’m finally in a position where I can kind of predict my own future, so to speak. I want to stay here in Dallas. That’s always been my goal. But it needs to be long-term. If they’re not ready to step up
and do that, then I’ll have to make my home elsewhere.”
The Dallas Mavericks are looking to hire the services of Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams who is the most sought after free agent this summer. They have been anticipating Williams to join the Mavericks and team up with
Dirk Nowitzki in a bid to make the franchise a championship contending team immediately.
However, in case they are unable to do so, the Mavs will be looking to returning the next season with the same core that got them to the first round of playoffs this year.
Jason Kidd, the veteran point guard, has said that he can return to Dallas only for 1 year, but that is not an option for Terry;
“I won’t be. You can count on that. If they’re doing that, you won’t see the Jet on the runway in Dallas. But my time here was good,” said Terry when asked what his reaction would be to a one year deal.
The Dallas Mavericks had an amazing 2010-2011 season where they were able to defeat the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals to clinch the championship. This season, they were not at their usual best as they finished 7th placed
in the Western Conference and lost 0-4 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.
With some salary cap space to work with, the Mavericks are looking forward to the trade season where they are looking to acquire a key player to move forward with Nowitzki. Number 1 on their list is New Jersey Nets guard Deron
Williams, who has also expressed his interest of moving to Dallas.
