The former Sixth Man of the Year bubbling with enthusiasm; cannot wait to start off in the Green Jersey.
Jason Terry joined the Boston Celtics as a free agent during the summer with the promise of winning another championship. Jet joined the Celtics on a three year deal worth $15.7 million in July and will be playing a role similar
to what he did at the Dallas Mavericks, but this time it will be on Doc Rivers’ rotation system, one that circles around defense.
His duties will include a minor ball handling role behind Rajon Rondo and also provide the team with three-point scoring, filling the big shoes left vacant by Ray Allen.
There is still time before he puts on his number 4 jersey and makes his official debut for the Greens, but based on his recent comments, Terry does not want to waste any time to declare where his loyalties are. He has a career
filled with achievement and is now rearing to bring it all on for the C’s. In doing so, he wants to be ruthless.
If Boston are to win a championship next season, their biggest hurdle will be in the form of Miami Heat. Even if they beat the Heat, awaiting them will be their long time rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. For Terry, the mission is
to destroy these two teams;
"My mission is to kill," Terry said. "Whoever that is, whether it's the Heat, whether it's the Lakers. Hopefully both. That's my mission and that's what I'm here to do.”
"I'm very excited. Obviously another opportunity to win a championship. That's what it's all about. There's no other motive here but to go out there and win, and win it all."
Terry’s decision to leave the Mavericks in the off season surprised quite a few people, but it had a lot to do with the reluctance of the Mavs in offering him a long term contract. The shooting guard was however not at all reluctant
to admit that the opportunity to play for Rivers also influenced his decision.
"Doc is one of the best coaches we have in this league today. He'll go down in history as one of the best," Terry said.
Jet has been know for talking big, but the worrying part for the Heat and Lakers is that he often lives up to his words. The Heat know it first hand as it was the Jet who overwhelmed LeBron James in the NBA Finals of 2011. His
recent claim though seems too farfetched and a reality check might be in order very quickly for the verbose superstar.
