Jason Terry surprised by Dallas Mavericks decision of not matching his offer – NBA Update
One of the major changes which took place at the Boston Celtics this free agency was the signing of Jason Terry, who according to Doc Rivers was their number one priority this year.
Boston offered a Terry an offer worth $15 million for three years and after the Dallas Mavericks chose not the match the offer with their inclinations set elsewhere, the former Sixth man of the Year knew he was
heading out of Texas.
"Boston was the first to call me and Doc Rivers got on the phone and said, 'We need you, you're our No. 1 priority,' " Terry said.”Had I got that same phone call from Dallas, I'd still be a Dallas Maverick.
According to Terry, his departure from Dallas was very surprising to him, considering how much he had done for the team and the community. The more surprising factor for him was that the Mavericks management
did not even consider bringing him back.
"Yeah, very surprised, very surprised," Terry said. "What I was able to do for the organization and in the community, I thought they would bring me back and they didn't. So it's life -- something I'll teach to
my girls, too."
Jet has gone through much while being part of the Dallas organization ever since his arrival, following Steve Nash’s exit from the team and into the Phoenix Suns.
Terry had adorned the Mavericks colours for the past eight years and was a key part of the team in both of their trips to the finals.
After bringing home a championship last season, Terry had shown interest of ending his career in Texas as a Maverick, a team he had grown fond off, so much so that even though he may have left for Boston for
the time being, Terry still considers returning back to Dallas at the closing stages of his career.
“So, I always have a home in Dallas and hopefully when I'm done I can go back and end my career there."
