Jason Terry takes a dig at LeBron James and Dwight Howard – NBA Update
Jason Terry likes to run his mouth extensively, especially when it comes to talking trash about the superstars in the league. The shooting guard recently gave another example of his verbose nature.
The targets of his thoughts this time were LeBron James and Dwight Howard, two of the best players in the league.
The recent outburst for terry came after Boston Celtics captain Paul Pierce scored 40 points in just 16 shots in a 103-91 win over the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers. With the effort, Paul joined an elite group of players who have scored
40 points in regulation after turning 35 years old. Terry himself a veteran was all praise for the forward after the win, but in the process, he didn’t let go of the opportunity to take a dig at Miami Heat’s LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers’ Dwight Howard.
"His (Pierce) willingness to stick through the tough times and not just jump off, 'I'm out of here! I'm going to join forces with Kobe (Bryant),' or 'I'm going to play with Dwyane Wade' -- that's a shot right there," Terry said.
Pierce has been a part of the Celtics setup since the time he was drafted into the league, and did not leave the franchise even when it was struggling in the middle part of last decade. Help eventually arrived in the form of Ray
Allen and Kevin Garnett, and the Big Three won the championship in the first year of their merger, much to the credit of Pierce’s sustenance.
However, the recent trend of star players has been the complete opposite. Two years back LeBron decided to ditch Cleveland Cavaliers and joined forces with Dwyane Wade in an attempt to win the championships and this summer Dwight
Howard forced his way out of Orlando Magic and to the Lakers.
Terry believes that these players do not command the type respect Pierce has.
And he probably has a point.
But, it would have been interesting to see Pierce’s attitude, had Danny Ainge not brought in Allen and Garnett.
Also, Terry should be the last person to talk on the issue. As far as I could remember, it was the same man who left the Dallas Mavericks this off season just to get a better deal at Boston.
For James and Howard, at least the moves were inspired by the will to win championships.
