Jason terry leads Dallas Mavericks to 101-93 win over the Philadelphia 76ers
The Dallas Mavericks extended their winning streak to seven games, by cruising past the Philadelphia 76ers 101-93 at Wells Fargo Centre on Monday night. With this victory, Dallas moved into second place in the Western Conference.
Jason Terry played one of his best games of the 2010-11 season for the Mavericks as he scored a game-high 30 points. Jason Kidd played a simple yet effective game. The veteran swingman was the key cog of Dallas's swift play and notched up a triple-double
with 13 points, 13 assists, 10 rebounds and no turnovers.
Dirk Nowitzki continued his mid-range shooting display, finishing with 22 points for the Mavericks, who have won 17 of their last 18 games. Guard Jodie Meeks registered a team-high 16 points while forward-guard Andre Iguodala had 15 points for the Sixers,
who have lost their 10th home game of the season.
Guard Jrue Holiday scored 14 points while forward Thaddeus Young came off the bench with 13 points for Philadelphia, who saw their four-game winning streak snapped.
Execution, energy and effort — it was all there for the Mavericks as they went out onto the court, shared the basketball and dominated the Sixers on the night. Both teams started the contest ice cold and played sloppy basketball. However, the Mavericks slowly
began to find their rhythm, taking a 23-22 lead into the second.
In the second quarter, Terry made some intelligent plays and took some tenacious shots around the court. The Mavericks managed to take a 51-44 lead at half time courtesy of Terry’s 13 point effort. Philadelphia came out strongly in the third quarter and
fought hard to make the score a respectable one, outscoring the Mavericks 33-28 in the third to trail by two points at 79-77 going into the final stanza.
The Mavericks controlled every aspect of the fourth quarter, limiting turnovers, making shots and playing tenacious defence. Young scored 5 of 6 free throws to make it a one-point game at 83-82 with nine minutes left in the game. Dallas then went on a 9-6
run to take a four-point lead. Meeks’ fantastic three-pointer made it 92-91 with less than two minutes to go.
The Mavericks continued to play offensively and scored nine points in the last minute of the game to seal their 44th win of the season.
