Question:

Jato 3.3 rc nitro car.?

I got a jato 3.3 rc nitro car today and we broke it in with 6 tanks. i now have 8 through it.

On the 7th tank i didnt look at the temp alot and it got up to 280 degrees f. can this hurt it?

  1. It can if it happens a lot.  Once  usually won't do much harm.    

      To help keep it cool, cut a hole in the windshield to let air flow though the body and over the engine, if you haven't done that already. That is usually done to help cooling.    Also once you find the sweet spot on the high speed needle, richen it back up ever so slightly.  It won't affect performance much, but the extra fuel(and the extra oil in the fuel) will help keep it cooler.    

       Most engines don't like to run that high of a temp, but some Traxxas engines seem to do well there.   I personally don't like to run them that hot.   I like to keep them in the 220 - 240 range.  

      On the other side of the coin, you don't want to run it too cool either.    The piston and sleeve won't properly expand at lower temps, and that can lead to premature wear.   Keep it over 200, but under 260 and it should be fine.    Be sure there is always smoke and a little fuel residue coming out of the pipe too.    That is how you know your engine is receiving enough fuel.
